WOW! THE AUDACITY
Remember when Mama Njeri told us she was done with street food because of the incident with Karis? Tell me why I saw her at the mutura base a few minutes before the curfew started!
Do you know the fear she instilled when she told us about those street sellers horror stories? You know she wasn’t alone; Wa Kamau was with her at the mutura base. I guess she saw the water bucket outside the mutura base and concluded it was safe to proceed. I didn’t want her to see me and feel embarrassed so I discreetly passed them and went home.
When I was about to go in my house, I met Njeri who wasn’t surprised after I told her what I saw. Njeri had also seen her mom at a mayai pasua and smokie base the previous day! Mama Njeri!
Deep down we both knew the Karis incident wasn’t going to stop her from eating street food but we hoped unlike the meat exposé incident that she would resist for at least a month. Let’s just say, to err is to Mama Njeri and to forgive is divine.
Mama Njeri remains undefeated on these streets; we are yet to ask her if she ever went back to eating street food because we all know why she did.
Have you ever had smokie pasua with that kachumbari or mayai pasua? Then you know staying away from these things is next to impossible especially if they are sold right outside your house. Should we talk about mutura and its unwritten rules or that should be a story for another day?
The evening queues at these places are insane. Mutura is like a secret lover that you never want anyone to know about but you can’t stop seeing. Okay enough said.
How about you check out this video and tell me you are not salivating fellow Kenyans.
Happy, not so healthy, eating.
